A DX cluster is a real-time network where amateur radio operators share reports of stations they hear or contact.
Each report, called a spot, normally includes:
- DX station: The call sign being heard
- Frequency: Where to find the station
- Spotter: Who reported it
- Time: Usually UTC
- Mode: Phone, CW, digital, and so forth
- Comment: Signal details, location, contest, or special-event information
For example:
14.250 MHz | K6L | Phone | spotted by KN6RBP | Special event station
Operators use the cluster to quickly find active stations, rare countries, special events, contests, POTA/SOTA activators, and openings on particular bands.
Your RBP DXCluster display takes spots received through the N7OD cluster connection and presents them in a web-friendly table. The connection stays open on the reflector server, while WordPress reads the resulting stream through dxc.k6ldf.com.
