This guide walks through configuring a WPSD hotspot from the web dashboard so it can:
- Join your local Wi-Fi network.
- Connect directly to the XLX618 reflector on DMR, Module H.
- Use Yaesu System Fusion on the US Hemet Hangout YSF reflector, YSF-59073.
Before You Start
Have these ready:
- Your Wi-Fi network name.
- Your amateur radio callsign.
- Your DMR ID from RadioID.net.
- The hotspot transmit/receive frequency you plan to use.
- Your hotspot modem type, if you know it.
- A Fusion/C4FM radio channel for the hotspot frequency, if using YSF.
This guide does not use a DMR talkgroup for XLX618. The connection is made in WPSD by selecting the XLX reflector and module directly in the dashboard.
Part 1: Connect WPSD to Wi-Fi
Option A: Wi-Fi Was Already Entered During Imaging
- Power on the hotspot.
- Wait about five minutes for the hotspot to boot.
- On a computer or phone connected to the same network, open:
http://wpsd.local
- If that does not work, try the hostname used by your image or device, such as:
– http://zumspot.local – http://skybridge.local – http://dvmega-cast.local
- Log in when prompted, then continue to Part 2.
Option B: Wi-Fi Was Not Entered During Imaging
- Power on the hotspot.
- Wait about five minutes.
- On your computer or phone, open the Wi-Fi network list.
- Connect to the setup network named:
WPSD-Setup
- Open a web browser and go to:
http://wpsd.local
- Scroll to Wireless Configuration.
- Choose Configure WiFi.
- Either scan for your Wi-Fi network or choose Add New WiFi Network.
- Select or enter your Wi-Fi network.
- Save/connect the new Wi-Fi profile.
- Wait a few minutes for WPSD to leave setup mode and join your home network.
- Reconnect your computer or phone to your normal Wi-Fi network.
- Open:
http://wpsd.local
- Log in when prompted.
Part 2: Basic WPSD Configuration
- In the WPSD dashboard, open:
Admin -> Configuration
- In General Configuration, enter or confirm:
| Field | What to Enter |
|---|---|
| Hostname | A simple name for the hotspot |
| Node Callsign | Your callsign |
| DMR/CCS7 ID | Your DMR ID |
| Radio Mode | Simplex for most personal hotspots |
| Radio Frequency | Your chosen hotspot frequency |
| Radio/Modem Type | Your hotspot board/modem |
| Time Zone | Your local time zone |
- If WPSD prompts you to select a modem, choose the correct modem type for your hotspot board.
- Click Apply Changes.
- Wait for WPSD to restart services and reload the dashboard.
Important: every time you change settings on the Configuration page, click Apply Changes. Otherwise the setting may appear on screen but not actually be active.
Part 3: Enable YSF for US Hemet Hangout YSF-59073
YSF-59073 is listed as:
| Item | Value |

Using US Hemet Hangout From a Fusion Radio
- Select the hotspot frequency on your Fusion radio.
- Use DN mode, not VW mode, when working linked digital systems.
- Key briefly and watch the WPSD dashboard for activity.
- Make a short test call:
This is [your callsign] testing WPSD into US Hemet Hangout YSF-59073.
Part 4: Connect DMR Directly to XLX618 Module H
- Open:
Admin -> Configuration
- In MMDVMHost Modem Configuration, turn DMR Mode on.
- Click Apply Changes.
- After the dashboard reloads, return to:
